In 1988 Texans Tommy Wayman and Jimmy Newman, with the support of Hap Sharp and Harry Collins, created Rose Spur Polo to provide them with a place to play good, clean polo in the favorable summer climate of the rocky mountains. With one stick and ball field and two polo fields, Rose Spur is best suited to 24 players. The polo is played in a pro-am format. A pro-pool is available for amateurs not having a pro of their own. Different teams are made up weekly to afford everyone an equal chance to win. In keeping with the relaxed atmosphere, informal gatherings are held each week in the form of club barbeques, field side lunches and member hosted parties. Rose Spur joined the USPA in 1993 as a member of the Rocky Mountain Circuit. The club colors are red, white and blue and the delegate is Jimmy Newman.
